Around 90,000 interstate and international visitors are expected to visit Melbourne for the Games. It is expected that the 40,000 international and 50,000 interstate visitors will stay in Melbourne, with significant pre- and post-touring activity forecast, especially from international markets.

One of the significant legacies of the Games will be the global exposure generated by the broadcast and general media coverage of the Games. Millions of dollars of coverage for Melbourne and Australia has already been generated in the lead up to the Games.
Australia has an abundance of unique stories and personalities that underpin the extensive Games media coverage. In consultation with Tourism Australia and Tourism Victoria a range of media services are being provided to the print and electronic media.
