Geeta Rani of India secured gold
in the Women's +75kg.
Dominant Indian lifters Geeta Rani and Simple Kaur Bhumrah have finished the Women’s +75kg Weightlifting with gold and silver medals.
Rani was expected to lead the class and lifted 241kg, while Bhumrah held 240kg, and New Zealand’s Keisha-Dean Soffe provided the bronze medal lift of 224kg.
After the event, Bhumrah said India was working towards greater success in 2010 "There are many young lifters working out back in India. There will be many gold medals coming for India in Delhi."
Soffe conceded the Indian women were in a league of their own, leaving only the third place medal for the rest of the field to contest.
”There were probably five of us who could have picked up bronze," said Soffe.
