Malaysia have won bronze in the Men's Hockey competition, defeating England 2-0.

Malaysia scored one goal in each of the halves to claim the third place prize over a spirited England side. The Kuala Lumpur silver medallists, were led by goal-scorers Ahmad Tengku Muhamad Amin Rahim.

Preview:

Australia is gunning for its third consecutive Commonwealth Games gold medal when it meets Pakistan in the Men's Hockey Final.

Australia has been the standout side all tournament, winning its Pool games in convincing style, and demolishing Malaysia 6-0 in the Semi Final. It has conceded just five goals on its way to the gold medal match.

Pakistan's road to the Final has been more difficult. The Pakistanis managed only a 1-1 draw against South Africa and a close 6-5 win over Malaysia in the Pool phase. It nudged England in the Semi Final 2-1 after a golden goal in extra time.

When Australia and Pakistan met in December 2005, the result was a 3-3 draw, but Australia seems stronger and more confident in this tournament.

Australian coach Barry Dancer believes the team is in the right frame of mind to take the gold medal.

"The feeling is that there is momentum now towards the Final," he said.

"I think that strength of confidence and the feeling that our game is coming together is there in the group and that will serve us well.”

In the bronze medal contest, England will take on Malaysia.

After losing to Pakistan in the Semi Final, England will be keen to consolidate an otherwise good tournament performance.

Malaysia's tenacious defence, which saw it hold Australia to one goal in the first half of the Semi Final, will hold it in good stead.

Malaysia took the silver while England took the bronze at Kuala Lumpur in 1998 proving that these two team both have the medal-winning history behind them and the potential to take a medal.
