Australia's Leonardo Zappavigna had a convincing win over Karimu Matumla of Tanzania.
Australians Jarrod Fletcher, Luke Jackson, and Leonardo Zappavigna all had convincing wins in their respective divisions on day seven of the Boxing at the Exhibition Centre.
Local hero Fletcher will meet gold-medal favourite James Degale of England, in what promises to be an explosive semi final in the Middleweight (75kg) division after both boxers impressed in their quarter final wins.
Fletcher put on an impressive display against Craig McEwan of Scotland controlling the bout from the opening bell. Fletcher led at every break yet still looks every bit an underdog against the heavily-favoured Englishman.
Featherweight (57kg) Jackson was a surprise winner over talented Ugandan Sharif Bogere 18-12. Jackson will now meet Pakistan's Lassi Mehrullah in the semi final.
Zappavigna gained an easy win over Tanzania's Karimu Nyamwela Matumla.
The Australian has been a real surprise package with some really fiery performances. Zappavigna had the crowd on their feet as he clearly outclassed his opponent, with the referee ending the bout in the second round.
Zappavigna will face Frankie Raymond Gavin in the Semi Finals after the Englishman breezed through his bout against Nigerian Rasheed Lawal.
The fight between Olufemi Ajayi of Nigeria and Musa Swissroll Ngozo of Swaziland was another highlight of day seven.
After taking early control of the fight, Ajayi took a 19-point advantage heading into the last round. With the fight almost dead and buried, Ngozo mounted a spirited comeback. The crowd cheered Ngozo on as he scored point after point almost knocking Ajayi to the canvas.
However, Ajayi held his feet and is now set to face Bongani Mwelase of South Africa in a semi final showdown.
