Day three of the Boxing gets underway at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre (MEC) with the events commencing at 1:00pm with 48 bouts of quarter-final competition.

Weight divisions being fought out today include: Light Flyweight (48kg), Flyweight (51kg), Bantamweight (54kg), Featherweight (57kg), Lightweight (60kg), Middleweight (75kg), and Light Heavyweight (81kg).

Australians Nathan Di Carlo, Lenny Zappavigna, and Luke Jackson, are all expected to perform well, and hope to continue Australia’s unbeaten run so far in the ring at Games competition.

Other competitors of note today are dual Olympian and two time Commonwealth Games medallist Jitender Kumar of India in the Flyweight division, and Middleweight James Degale of England who may cause an upset or two and mount the podium at the end of his battles in the ring.

Middleweight Kahukura Bentson from New Zealand will be looking to better his silver medal won at the 2002 Manchester Games.

If Day Two’s action and crowd was any indication of things to come, boxers and spectators alike can look forward to an entertaining and exciting programme.
