Nigeria, New Zealand and Australia were the victors in the Basketball matches on day two of the games.

In a one sided match, New Zealand defeated Malta 127-47. New Zealand Coach said that his inexperienced players took most of the first period to settle down but then proved more than a match for their opponents.

‘Our young players were a little nervous at the start because this was their first international experience, but they settled into our work and we got that first one out of the way’, he said.

In a much closer game Nigeria came out the victors with a 97-67 win over Malaysia.

Siao Foong Chow said that they played well for the first half of the game but after that our shooting went astray and we missed vital opportunities.

"We must make use of opportunities as the come to hand," said Chow.

In the Men's Preliminaries, Scotland were no match for the strong Australian line up and were defeated 129-52.

The Nigerian men's team also won their game, beating India 113-84.
