Top seeds Gail Emms and Nathan Robertson of England have advanced to the Final of the Badminton Mixed Doubles after a convincing defeat of Scotland’s Andrew Bowman and Kirsteen Miller in the Quarter Finals, and then succeeding in a tight Semi Final against Hendri Saputra and Yujia Li of Singapore.
They will meet New Zealand pair Daniel Shirley and Sara Runesten-Petersen, who are seeded second, in the Final. The Kiwi’s advanced in straight games against Tamara Sun and William Milroy of Canada.
In the evening session the New Zealanders trounced eighth seed Kien Keat Koo and Pei Tty Wong of Malaysia, 15-21, 21-14, 21-15, to set up a meeting with the gold medal favourites.
In the Men's Singles, top seed Chong Wei Lee from Malaysia will play compatriot Choong Hann Wong in the Final after Lee defeated India's Anup Sridhar, 21-15, 21-18, in his Quarter Final and overpowered seventh seed Aamir Ghaffar of England, 21-8, 21-9, in the Semi Final.
Second seed Wong overcame a stiff challenge from Singapore's Yen Hui Kendrick Lee in his Quarter Final with a 21-17, 22-20 victory and he was pushed to three sets in the Semi Final by Chetan Anand of India.
Mew Choo Wong of Malaysia will face Englishwoman Tracey Hallam in the Final of the Women's Singles on Day 11.
Wong continued her dominance with a 21-10, 21-8, win over Aiying Xing of Singapore in the Quarter Finals and advanced to the Final after a straight games victory over Scotland's Susan Hughes.
Hallam, the top seed, was outstanding in her win over New Zealand’s Rachel Hindley in the Quarter Finals and then defeated unseeded Elizabeth Cann of Jersey, 21-17, 21-8, to set up a meeting with Wong.
In the Quarter Final of Men's Doubles, a controversial red card at 19-19 in the third and deciding game contributed to the upset win by Ashley Brehaut and Travis Denney over third seeds Geoffrey Bellingham and Craig Cooper of New Zealand.
Brehaut and Denney were defeated by top seeds Kien Keat Koo and Chong Ming Chan of Malaysia, 21-11, 21-8, and will play-off for the bronze medal against England's Robert Blair and Anthony Clark..
The Final of the Men's Doubles will be an all-Malaysian affair with Koo and Chan taking on Tan Fook Choong and Choong Hann Wong.
In the Women's Doubles Final, Malaysia's top seeded pairing Eei Hui Chin and Pei Tty Wong will meet Singapore's Yanmei Jiang and Yujia Li to battle for the gold medal.
Chin and Wong won convincingly against India’s Trupti Murgune and Saina Nehwal within 18 minutes - 21-8, 21-3 to progress to the Final. Jiang and Li defeated the second seeds Gail Emms and Donna Kellogg of England, 21-8, 21-14.
