Malaysian victory launches Badminton

Badminton Mixed team events at the Melbourne Exhibition Centre are underway with a number of strong results already played out with Prince Phillip among the spectators.

The top seed Malaysian mixed team won its tie against Fiji in convincing fashion winning 5-0.

In the women's singles, Wong Mew Choo from Malaysia who defeated Karyn Whiteside from Fiji winning two matches to nil. New Zealand's Rebecca Bellingham also won against Kenyan Irene Kerimah.

World No.2 Men's Singles player LEE Chong Wei (Malaysia) was challenged by Burty MOLIA (Fiji) in the early stages of the first set but stepped up and eventually won 21-12, 21-10.
