Nicholas Willis of New Zealand celebrates winning the Men's 1500m Final.
New Zealand's Nicholas Willis has won the Men's 1500 Final in 3:38.49. Nathan Brannen from Canada claimed the silver medal and Australian Mark Fountain finished third.
"I can't believe they didn’t pass me," Willis exclaimed. "I didn't run that great on the last 100 metres."
With almost two laps of the track to go, Australia's Craig Mottram was running in third place when he was brought down, as the runner behind him stumbled and fell. Mottram jumped to his feet after the fall,but was unable to catch the leaders. He finished ninth in 3:44.37.
"To finish the Commonwealth Games like that is frustrating," said a disappointed Mottram. "I came out tonight to win but unfortunately I fell.
"The British guy got me from behind with his hand, by the look of the replay.I'm disappointed but you’ve got to move on."
