A mighty throw from England's
Nicholas Neiland scores him the
gold.
Nicholas Neiland of England has thrown to gold in the Final of the Men's Javelin, with a Season's Best that flew 80.10 metres.
"I almost needed someone to go ahead of me to get the adrenaline going," said Neiland.
The silver and bronze medals went to Australians William Hamlyn Harris and Oliver Dziubak, who both recorded a throw of 79.89m. Hamlyn Harris was able to leap-frog his way into second place after Dziubak fouled two of his throws, pushing him back into third place in his Commonwealth Games debut.
South Africans Gerhardus Pienaar and John Oosthuizen finished fourth and fifth. A disappointed Russell Scott from Canada was unable to match his Manchester Commonwealth Games silver medal performance, finishing eighth with a throw of 73.88m.
