Kenya won the Men's 5000m in
record time.
Kenya’s 19 year old Augustine Choge has set a new Commonwealth Games record in the Men’s 5000m final.
Choge, ranked sixth in the event world last month, passed Australia’s Craig Mottram with about 250 metres to go in the race which was run at a demanding pace.
His time of 12 minutes 56.41 seconds bettered the time of 13 minutes 13.51 seconds set by his fellow countryman, Sammy Kipketer, at the Manchester Games.
Mottram’s silver medal time was 12 minutes 58.19 seconds.
The bronze went to Kenya’s Benjamin Limo who won silver in Manchester.
