Australian Stephanie Rice has won Australia’s first gold medal of the Games in the Women's 200m Individual Medley.

Recording a new Commonwealth Games record time of 2:12.90, this is also a personal best for the new Australian golden girl.

Touching the wall for the silver medal was Australia’s Brooke Hanson with a time of 2:13.62 and to complete the trifecta for Australia, the bronze medal was won by Lara Carroll with a time of 2:13.86.
