Injuries Simon missed the Manchester Commonwealth Games due to a hernia operation.
Other Simon holds the Phoenix Weightlifting Club records in both the 94kg and the 105kg class, in all three disciplines of lifting.

He is currently ranked sixth in the Commonwealth in the 94kg class.

He was the Oceania Champion in 2004 and a member of the World Championships team in 1997, 1998, 2001 and 2003.
