Injuries Right before the 2004 Athens Olympics, Jana tore her right lateral meniscus (knee). She dashed to London for a knee operation. After a remarkable recovery of 17 days she ran at the Olympic Games.

Before competition Jana always paints her finger and toe nails in the colours of who she is representing (eg club, state, nation) and wears a gold bracelet given to her by former training partner Melinda Gainsford-Taylor.

Jana is engaged to British international 400m hurdler Chris Rawlinson, who has a personal best of 48.14 and won the 2002 Commonwealth Games title.

The Melbourne Zoo named a baby Wombat 'Jana' in her honour.

Jana split with her management company less than two months from the Commonwealth Games. She will now be managed by her fiance and coach English athlete Chris Rawlinson.

Jana ran a games record in the 400m Hurdles, running a great time of 53.82 and winning the gold.
