She started her athletic career at the age of eight as a gymnast started lifting when she was 13 years old.

She was a member of the Junior World Team in 2004.

She has aspirations to become a sport psychologist although she is currently doing a clerical traineeship and working in a bar.

She used to do gymnastics and trampolining before being discovered by Scott Robinson at her school, and Erika's other interests include dancing and movies.
