Brenton continued to show why he is Australia's number one sprint breaststroker with several Australian record breaking performances at the 2005 Telstra Trials.

He unfortunately had a disastrous 2004 Telstra Olympic Team Selection Trials where he failed to qualify for his first Olympic team despite being the Australian record holder and favourite for the 100m breaststroke.

His win in the 100m saw him become the first Australian to break 1:01 for the event.

He believes Stephen Larkham's drop goal against the Springboks in the 1999 World Cup semi-final is his most memorable sporting moment.
