Other Shayne won her first international gold medal in 2005 when she joined Jodie Henry, Alice Mills and Libby Lenton as a member of the 4 x 100m Freestyle relay team at the World Championships in Montreal.

Her swimming career didn't exactly get off to the most promising start. As a child visiting a pool near her Ballarat home for the first time, Shayne recalls screaming and hanging on to my mum's legs while the swimming teachers tried - unsuccessfully - to coax me into the pool.

She also placed second in the 100 & 200m Freestyle and 100m IM at the 2005 Australian Short Course Championships.
