Alleyne was the first Grenadian to make the Olympic finals in any sport, placing fourth in the final of the 400m at the Athens Olympics. He was also the first Grenadian to win a Global medal at a World Championships.

Alleyne has been named Grenada's Sports Man of the Year on four occasions.

He was once ranked number one in the world in the 400m.
