Other Dalas began weightlifting at the age of 14 at his high school where his father - a two-time Olympic weightlifter and a two-time Commonwealth Games silver medalist - was the weightlifting physical education coach.

His goal for the Melbourne Commonwealth Games is to win a gold medal.

Dalas finished 2005 ranked 63rd in the world with lifts of 140kg (Snatch), 180kg (Clean & Jerk), and 320kg (Total).

His most memorable sporting achievement was competing at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Malaysia.
