Other Kim learned how to shoot in 1989 while competing in Modern Pentathlon. In 1995 she stopped competing in Pentathlon to focus on shooting.

She is coached by Joe Boutilier and trains at Richmond Rod & Gun Club in Richmond, British Columbia.

Her goals for Melbourne 2006 are Air Pistol - 384 or higher and Sport Pistol - 578 or higher. Her sporting goals beyond Melbourne are to represent Canada well as an athlete, and ultimately to shoot well at the 2008 Olympics.
