Cleanevent appointed as Official Provider for Melbourne 2006

Melbourne-based company Cleanevent was today announced as an Official Provider for the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games.
Victorian Minister for Tourism and Major Events, the Hon. John Pandazopoulos, said Cleanevent would provide cleaning services in the lead up to, during and post-Games time at a number of high-profile Games’ venues and facilities such as the MCG, the Athletes’ Village and the Sponsor Hospitality Village.
“Cleanevent is a great Melbourne-based company with an outstanding history of successful association with high-profile, international events.”
“We’re delighted to have them on board for the Commonwealth Games in 2006; over 90,000 interstate and international visitors are forecast to visit Melbourne for the Games and Cleanevent will play a crucial role in ensuring our visitors enjoy the atmosphere and fantastic facilities Melbourne has to offer.”
Cleanevent already boasts cleaning roles at three consecutive Summer and two Winter Olympic Games, involvement in the Kuala Lumpur and Manchester Commonwealth Games, in addition to numerous world class events in Australia, USA, the United Kingdom and Europe.
Craig Lovett, Executive Director, Cleanevent International, said he was certain the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games would be a clean event.
“We are very confident the domestic and global visitors to Melbourne will experience an outstanding world class event, where Cleanevent provides a service, sport’s lovers will also enjoy a pristine event and venue facility,” he said.
“For the past 18 years, our company has been keeping major events in Melbourne clean.”
Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games Corporation Chief Executive Officer, Mr John Harnden, welcomed Cleanevent to the Official Games Sponsor Family.
"We are very pleased to welcome Cleanevent as an Official Provider for the biggest sporting and cultural event Melbourne has ever hosted,” Mr Harnden said.
“Cleanevent’s obvious expertise in large-scale, international sporting events will prove immensely valuable and we’re thrilled to have them on board.”
The Cleanevent Group includes the operational companies of Cleanevent, CleanDomain and the newly created Clean Concierge, a specialist hotel cleaning and housekeeping division.
As part of their Official Provider status for Melbourne 2006, venues and facilities under the “cleaning control” of the newly formed “Clean Group” include:
• The Melbourne Cricket Ground
• Athletes’ Village
• Sponsor Hospitality Village
• Various precinct venues around Melbourne
Nicko Mavro, Group CEO, Cleanevent, said his company employs some of the most experienced management staff, cleaning managers and supervisors within the industry.
“We will be deploying an estimated 1300 staff for this event, and have a solid understanding of what is required having worked through the pressures of the largest and most demanding sporting events in the world,” said Mr Mavro.

The Games will be a once-in-a-lifetime chance to witness 4500 elite athletes from 71 nations taking part in the XVIII Commonwealth Games to be held from 15-26 March 2006.
