South Africa's, Louis Van Zyl, sets a new Commonwealth Games record in the Men's 400m Hurdles Final.
South Africa has won gold and silver in the Men’s 400m Hurdles Final, with a flying run from Louis Van Zyl.
In winning the gold medal, Van Zyl, set a new Commonwealth Games record of 48.05 seconds - 23 hundredths of a second faster than the previous record of 48.28 seconds.
"It's perfect because of the crowd. It's my second big medal this one," said Van Zyl. "To my parents, my coach, I want to thank them."
He was closely followed by fellow South African, Alwyn Myburgh, who took the silver medal in 48.23 seconds, also beating the previous record.
Jamaica’s Kemel Thompson wrapped up the medals with a bronze winning time of 48.65 seconds.
