Daily Summary - What was on today at the Games
With only two days of competition remaining, a total of 28 gold medals will be decided today.
The diving competition finishes today with the Women’s 3m Springboard and Men’s 10m Platform preliminaries and finals being contested. The competition in both these events is expected to be tight, with England, Canada and Australia battling out for the final chance to clinch a medal.
With all the heats completed, it’s only finals competition in tonight’s final Athletics session. On the field, medals will be awarded in the Men’s Javelin and Triple Jump and the Women’s Pole Vault. On the track, the highlights are the team events, as both the Men’s and Women’s 4x100 and 4x400m Relays are contested. The Athletics competition will then come to a close with the Men’s 1500m and 10,000m Finals.
The Women’s Hockey medals will be decided today, with India the gold medallists from Manchester looking for two in a row. They take on Australia in the gold medal decider. England and New Zealand will play off for the bronze medal.
Rhythmic Gymnastics continues today with the Women’s Individual All-Around Final to be decided.
It’s bronze medal day in the Badminton, with playoff matches for third place in the Men’s and Women’s Singles, Doubles and Mixed Doubles. India are represented in two matches (Men’s Singles and Women’s Doubles) and England are playing in three (Men’s Singles, Women’s Doubles and Men’s Doubles).
After yesterday’s rest day in Boxing, the competition comes to a close today with the gold medal deciders in the eleven classifications.
The two semi final matches in the Netball will take place tonight, ahead of the medals which will be decided tomorrow. New Zealand meets Jamaica and England will take on hometown favourites Australia.
Today’s action in Squash also includes semi finals in the Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles.
In the last day of competition in the shooting, India will be looking to add to their medal haul in the Finals of the Men’s Skeet Singles and Men’s 25m Standard Pistol Singles.
In the penultimate day of competition in the Table Tennis, gold medals will be decided in both the Men’s and Women’s Doubles.
