Games mascot Karak falls over
the finish line after racing the
other resident team mascots.
In a day of hi jinks and high-spirits at the Athlete's Village, Melbourne's Games mascot Karak was challenged to a race against the other resident team mascots in the Village.
Karak, the endangered south-eastern red-tailed black cockatoo, had the gauntlet thrown down by Canada's Canoose the Goose and Scotland's mascot Spirit the Scottie Dog.
Mascots from Wales, England, the Isle of Man and Zambia were also represented in the mad dash around the Ceremonial Plaza in the Athletes' Village.
Like the rest of Australian athletes at these Games, Karak performed admirably but unfortunately stumbled at the crucial moments and was pipped by the Canadian goose.
