Qantas was proud to be announced as the first sponsor of the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games in 2003 and is Official Partner and Official Airline of the Games.

Qantas has a long history of supporting Australian sporting events and organisations at all levels. Qantas has been involved with the Commonwealth and Empire Games for more than 50 years and was a major sponsor of the Games when they were last in Australia, in Brisbane in 1982.

In May 2005, Qantas unveiled a co-branded Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games Qantas aircraft. The Boeing 737-800 was officially launched by Victorian Premier Steve Bracks, Qantas Chairman Margaret Jackson, Olympic Champion and Face of the Games, Catherine Freeman and Games Mascot Karak and will fly throughout Australia and help encourage all Australians to support the Games.

Qantas looks forward to further Sharing The Spirit of the Games with a range of associated programs. Qantas' partnership is an endorsement of the tremendous benefits the Games will bring to Melbourne and Australia.

Travel packages including Games tickets, air travel and accommodation are available now through licensed travel agents or by calling Qantas Holidays on 131415.
