Shooglenifty From Scotland

"This is tradition standing on its head, doing cart wheels and pole vaulting over every barrier in sight..." The Irish Times

The music of this six-piece band from Edinburgh has been described variously as 'acid croft', 'hypno-folkedelic ambient trance' and 'a trippy blend a bit like a jam between Tannahill Weavers, Phish and The Chemical Brothers'. Such descriptions, though, hardly begin to capture the dazzling multi-layered intricacy, exquisitely jewelled lyricism and intoxicating, coruscating grooves that are Shooglenifty's hallmarks. With the unique distinction of being the first band ever to incite a stage invasion at the Sydney Opera House, Shooglenifty will be hitting Festival Melbourne2006 with its irresistible brand of... well... whatever the heck it is.
