Grand Union Orchestra
From England, Australia
"...there were South Indian ragas, Venezuelan melodies, West African rhythms and Bhangra brass grooves in strikingly effective combinations " The Age
The haunting sounds of the Andes and Southern India colliding with dance rhythms from the Caribbean and South African townships. Brassy Latin-American street music mixing it with ancient ragas and ancestral singing. Bhangra and African drumming going head-to-head with stunning jazz improvisation. These are the rich and eclectic sounds of Grand Union's trademark musical mix, performed by a dazzling line-up of authentic exponents of these musical styles. Tony Haynes – director of the London-based Grand Union Orchestra – has assembled a remarkable collection of local musicians to take you on a magical mystery-tour powered by music of the world.
