Adiemus: Songs of Sanctuary
Young Voices of Melbourne, Brisbane Birralee Voices, Young Adelaide Voices
A glorious choir for the new age ...
For one night only, the gorgeously ethereal and powerfully uplifting melodic chants of
Adiemus - Songs of Sanctuary
will soar across Federation Square when massed Australian youth choirs perform this unique choral work for Festival Melbourne2006. Composed in 1995 by internationally-acclaimed Welsh composer, Karl Jenkins,
Adiemus – Songs of Sanctuary
has become a worldwide phenomenon, capturing hearts and imaginations all over the globe. Frequently compared to the music of Enya, Enigma and Deep Forest, this stunningly beautiful work defies any simple categorisation.
Songs of Sanctuary
will be performed by a 160-strong youth choir assembled especially for the Commonwealth Games, conducted by Mark O'Leary and led by the Young Voices of Melbourne with Brisbane Birralee Voices, Young Adelaide Voices and Brisbane's Ferny Grove Percussion Ensemble with string orchestra, recorder soloist Natasha Anderson and young vocalist Emma Rule.
