Elite athletes Sharelle McMahon, Ellen Steele and Don Elgin Next March, you’ll have the chance to witness elite athletes going for gold and glory, competing against each other at the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games.

While each event promises its own highlights, a lot of the action will happen behind the scenes at the Athletes' Village.

For your chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime Commonwealth Games experience including a VIP tour of the Athletes' Village, tickets to the final evening of the Athletics at the MCG and accommodation for one night in the heart of Melbourne for two people on 25 March*, simply purchase The Age or the Sydney Morning Herald on Saturday 29 October 2005, complete the entry coupon and send it in for your chance to win

*The NSW prize winner will also receive return flights for two people and two night’s accommodation.

Terms and conditions - Access to the Athletes' Village (VIC)

1.Information on how to enter and on prizes form part of these terms and conditions. By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.

2. Entry is open to residents of Victoria, except the paid employees of Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games Corporation (“the Promoter”) and all Commonwealth Games bodies, and the immediate family of those persons are ineligible to enter. If the prize winner is under the age of 18 a parent or guardian may be required to accept the prize and/or accompany them to receive the prize experience.

3. To enter the prize draw, you must send the promotional coupon from the October 2005 volunteer lift out in The Age newspaper published on 29 October 2005 to: Village Access Competition, Locked Bag 4007, South Melbourne VIC 3205. The promotional coupon must be received by the Promoter by midnight EST Friday 25 November 2005.

4. The promotion commences at 9am EST on Saturday 29 October 2005 and closes at midnight EST Friday 25 November 2005.

5. There is one prize consisting of two adult Price Level A tickets to the Athletics Finals on 25 March for the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games. The winner will also receive a guided tour for two on 25 March 2006 around the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games Athlete Village including a meal for two in the Main Dining Area. The total prize pool retail value is $400.

6. The prize will be drawn on 30 November at the Melbourne 2006 head offices and the winner will be contacted within two days of the draw. Their details will be published on the Melbourne 2006 website on 2 December 2005. The winner may also be approached to fulfil some publicity in relation to the prize and/or the Games.

7. Prizes are not transferable and are not redeemable for cash. The Promoter accepts no responsibility for any late, lost or misdirected entries.

8. Use of the tickets in the prize is subject to the terms and conditions applicable to those tickets, in particular the conditions of Attendance which can be found at the website www.melbourne2006.com.au

9. In the event that any part of the prize becomes unavailable for reasons beyond the Promoter’s control, the Promoter may substitute a prize which in the Promoter’s sole opinion is of equal or greater value.

10. Subject to any applicable law which cannot be excluded, the Promoter, the State of Victoria and all Commonwealth Games bodies shall not be liable for any loss, damage or injury suffered or sustained (including but not limited to direct or consequential loss or loss arising from negligence) arising directly or indirectly out of or in connection with the promotion or the prize.

11. The prize winner and guest will be required to undergo a police check to attain access into the village. This will be conducted at the cost of Melbourne 2006. If the winner does not pass the police check they will not gain access to the Village but will still be eligible for the athletics tickets. Management has the right to refuse entry at any time.

12. Details from all entries will be collected and used for the purposes of conducting this promotion (which may include disclosure to third parties for the purpose of processing and conducting the promotion) and for publicity purposes surrounding this promotion. The name and image (but not address) of the winner and persons accompanying the winner may be used by the Promoter for publicity purposes. Airport travels to and from the hotel will be covered by Melbourne 2006 but no other travel costs will be incurred by the Promoter The total prize pool retail value is $2,000.
