It’s the condensed version of the ‘game they play in heaven.’ It’s the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games Rugby 7s competition, featuring the best teams in the world.

More than 50,000 cheering, screaming fans will be on hand for the finals.  And it just so happens to coincide with St Patrick’s Day.  The atmosphere will be electric, and the party afterwards will be just as big.

For a limited time, Melbourne 2006 organisers are offering you and four mates the chance to be a part of the action of the gold medal match of the Rugby 7s, when you buy two or more tickets at any price level to any other Rugby 7s session at the Games. There is one prize a week of five tickets to be given away over the next three weeks.

For your chance to win, all you have to do is purchase two tickets to any session of the Rugby 7s at the Telstra dome before 23 February 2006, and email in 25 words or less why you’d like to win this fantastic prize. The most creative entry each week will win the following prize(s):

Terms & Conditions of Entry

1. Information on how to enter and prizes form part of these conditions of entry.

2. Entry is open to residents of Australia, except the paid employees of Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games Corporation (“the Promoter”) and all Commonwealth Games bodies, and the immediate family of those persons are ineligible to enter.

3. Promotion commences 9:00am EST on Friday 3 February 2006 and closes at 11.59pm EST on Thursday 23 February 2006. 

4. By entering into this promotion each entrant agrees that if they win, they and their guest(s) who share their prize (who the entrant must make aware of these terms and conditions), must comply at all times with the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games Conditions of Attendance that apply to the use of all tickets to the Games.  The Conditions of Attendance can be found at www.melbourne2006.com.au or can be requested by calling Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games Corporation ("M2006") on 1300 00 2006.

5. The Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games are a declared event under the Sports Event Ticketing (Fair Access) Act 2002 (Vic). By entering this promotion, each entrant and their guest(s) who share their prize (who the entrant must make aware of these terms and conditions) acknowledge and agree that tickets must not without prior written consent of M2006 be resold above the face value of the ticket nor used for advertising, promotion or other commercial purposes.  If this condition is breached the ticket will be void and will not entitle the holder to admission to the event and any violators may be prosecuted.

6. This promotion has a new and different prize each week of the promotion and a weekly winner will be selected by the Promoter each week.  To enter, consumers must have purchased two tickets or more to any Rugby session of the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games through any of the authorised Ticketmaster channel during a week of the competition.  Entrants must then either click on the automatic entry link online or send an email independently to rugby7scomp@melbourne2006.com.au and write in 25 words or less why they would like to win the weekly prize.  The entrant must also provide their name, address, contact phone number and Rugby order reference code from Ticketmaster.  Entries will not be accepted if the Rugby order reference code is not included and entrants may need to request this at point of purchase.  Entries will be judged on creativity and originality.

7. Multiple entries are permitted into the competition but each entry must relate to a separate purchase of two or more Rugby tickets purchases during a week of the competition.  An Rugby order reference code must be provided with each entry.  Each week is considered a separate competition and entries are not rolled over into subsequent weeks.

Opens Friday 10 February 2006 and closes 11:59 Thursday 16 February 2006
Prize awarded: Five x Price level A tickets to the final session of the Rugby on 17 March 2006 Value $475

Week 3
Opens Friday 17 February 2006 and closes 11:59 Thursday 23 February 2006 
Prize awarded: Five x Price level A tickets to the final session of the Rugby on 17 March 2006 Value $475

The total prize value is $1,425  

9. The winning entry selection for the weekly ticket prizes will take place on the following dates: Week 1: Tuesday 14 February 2006, Week 2: Tuesday 21 February 2006 and Week 3: Tuesday 28 February 2006.  The winners’ names will be published on the official Melbourne 2006 website at www.melbourne2006.com.au. 

10. The Week 1 winners will be announced on the website on Wednesday 15 February 2006, the Week 2 winner will be announced on Wednesday 22 February and the Week 3 winner will be announced on Wednesday 1 March 2006. All winners will be notified by phone and in writing by Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games Corporation via mail by 3 March 2006.

11. The judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
12. Spending money transport to and from venues and all ancillary costs are the responsibility of the prize winners and their guest.

13. To the full extent permitted by law, the Promoters and Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games Corporation exclude liability for any loss, damage or injury whatsoever suffered or sustained  (including, but not limited to direct, indirect special or consequential loss or damage, loss of opportunity revenue or profit) arising out of or in connection with this promotion, including transportation to and attendance at the venues, and use of Games tickets.

14. The Promoter accepts no responsibility if any event is cancelled, or the dates are re-scheduled for any reason whatsoever.  If the prize or any part of the prize becomes unavailable for reasons beyond the Promoters’ control, the Promoters will endeavour but are not obliged to provide a substitute prize of equivalent value.

15. Details from all entries will be collected and used for the purposes of conducting this promotion (which may include disclosure to third parties for the purpose of processing and conducting the promotion) and for publicity purposes surrounding this promotion.  The name and image (but not address) of the winner and persons accompanying the winner may be used by the Promoter for publicity purposes.  The Promoter’s privacy policy is available by visiting www.melbourne2006.com.au.
